Description

Key Characters:

Growth Form: Annual or perennial herbs.

Stems: Stems decumbent to sometimes weakly ascending, 0.1–0.4 dm long, branched or unbranched.

Roots:

Leaves: Leaves simple. Opposite. Blades ovate to oblong or elliptic to suborbicular, sometimes oblong–lanceolate or oblanceolate to spatulate, 2–8(–11) mm long, 1.5–3(–5) mm wide. Base cordate, or cuneate. Surfaces evenly glandular punctate with pale glands. Margins entire. Sessile, surrounding th stem. Stipules absent.

Flowers: Flowers 1 to few in terminal cymes, pedicels (1.4–)2–14 mm long in fruit. Flowers bisexual (perfect). Sepals narrowly elliptic to oblong or oblanceolate, 2–5 mm long. Petals pale yellow, elliptic or oblong to obovate, 1.7–5 mm long. Stamens 5–10, distinct. Ovary superior; styles 3.

Fruit: Capsules broadly ellipsoid; 2.5–5 mm long. Seeds yellowish brown to tan; cylindrical; ca. 0.5 mm long; inconspicuously longitudinally ribbed.
